November 2014

So, here we are again catching up on last year. November was Jack’s birthday. 5 seems very big!

He is full of life…

~LOVES construction vehicles (still)

~Learning how to read

~Master puzzler

~Great imagination

~Loves listening to audio stories

~He likes working. Really! He also will play that he is working a LOT!

~Loves his family and we love him!

Last year, his grandparents got him aย Bruder skid steer loader and he loved it. He has had a bit of an obsession with the Bruderย  brand ever since. He just loves realistic construction vehicles that actually work and I can’t blame him. So, thanks to generous grandparents and my love of getting free Amazon gift cards he got some new Bruder vehicles this year. He is already saving up for another one…that boy.

IMG_6675My parents watched him open his gifts from them on Facetime.

IMG_6711Seth’s parents live nearby and were able to come over to share their gifts with him.

IMG_6712His Grammie also knit him a sweater from a vintage pattern. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_6684Presents from cousins!

IMG_6691We got him a tool set.

IMG_6689Ella found something in the set to accessorize with!

IMG_6709Jack thought turning his set into a crane was another perk!

IMG_6705My cake was a big flop but he didn’t care at all. He actually thought I swirled the shape of a heart onto it…sweet boy.

We came into the room singing “Happy Birthday” a little off key and he thought it was hilarious. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy 5th Birthday Buddy!

IMG_6600We took our Christmas card photo.

That was “fun”…ahem. Thankfully, we managed to get at least 1 where everyone had pleasant faces.

IMG_6747Playing in a {dad built} teepee is more their speed!

Happy 2015!

Well, hello there! I’m still here and I do love to share snippets of our life but it is a bit hard at times. You see screen time is a rarity for my children so I try very hard not to spend big chunks of time on the computer when they are awake. Then when they are asleep I am too exhausted or have more pressing matters to attend to that the blog gets pushed aside (again). I like having these memories to look back on so, (once again) I am going to try to get more pictures on here. We shall see if I can manage a weekly post this year. New years are all about dreaming big…

Soooo, the 2 big kids are out with their dad doing errands. Going to the dump, bank and Lowes to buy a toilet seat is extra special when you get dad time! So, while Lucas tears Jack’s room apart I am going to get some pictures on here. I left you off with our beach visit last time so here is the rest of September…

IMG_6413Ella was very curious about this Praying Mantis that was hanging out on our porch. She got right in it’s face. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_6421We visited Monticello with Seth’s parents to attend their Heritage Festival. It rained off and on the whole time but we all really enjoyed it. The kids got to pet some animals,

IMG_6422watch and participate in all kinds of trades and crafts,

IMG_6434the music was a big hit with Jack,

IMG_6440as was playing with the hoop.

Even Thomas Jefferson (see him in the background?!) said he was really good at the game!

IMG_6450He ran full speed ahead for a good long time!

IMG_6427Checking out the beautiful gardens was more our speed. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_6430Ella taking a break out of the rain.

IMG_6483We celebrated Lucas turning 1!

IMG_6494He is getting so big…12 teeth, taking steps but still prefers to crawl (fast), climbs on everything and loves putting anything inside of containers.

That little popper toy he is holding is so fun but one of the guys is missing and I’m really hoping he didn’t throw it away. Seth is constantly finding toys in his work boots!

IMG_6489He is still my little love bug but has recently turned into a daddy’s boy! Which makes Seth so very happy!

Oh wow, they still aren’t back so, here is October too…

My good friend, Rachel and her husband came for a visit sans kids and we had a wonderful time together! Who knows why I didn’t take a single picture while they were here…sigh. Next time, we agreed she needs to bring her kids so, they can entertain each other and we can have even more talking time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

IMG_6530We like to take nature walks in our back field.

IMG_6501Sometimes Jack finds a feather and this time he wanted to turn it into a pen. So, we got creative with some black paint!

IMG_6559He also built this motorcycle! Seth just helped him hammer in the nails.

IMG_6526Gak was a big hit again!

IMG_6565I found some like new Adidas sneakers in Ella’s size at Goodwill. Anyone who knows Ella knows she adores shoes so, waiting for them to dry after I washed them was a bit torturous. She just pulled up a chair and waited. ๐Ÿ˜‰

IMG_6584Super happy!

IMG_6591Jack turned my kitchen into a giant geoboard while I was getting everything ready to make applesauce.

Don’t get too attached to my beautiful (ahem) kitchen. Plans are in the works to make some improvements this year…I can’t wait!

IMG_6594Lucas is pretty excited about it too!

Well, my family is back with their Lowes purchases and some kitchen catalogs!

See you back here again sometime soon!

Months 10 & 11

So, there are some people who know that Lucas just turned 1 this week (ahem) which means I am a bit behind. Let’s just pick up where we left off and not discuss my blogging skills, okay?!

IMG_5916“Tell me why you thought this was a good idea again?”

“You’re right. This is fun!”

For some reason, all the kids think it is fun to play in an empty pool!

However, this little guy learned how to escape. ๐Ÿ˜‰

He can be quite the master of disaster but…

he is super cute so we forgive him!

11 Months

He is such a sweetie!

After a long 11 months of trying to get at that sign, I always let my babies destroy play with it after their picture!

It makes them so happy!

We love you Lucas!

I plan to do a summer recap so stay tuned. ๐Ÿ™‚

9 Months

I thought I would share just a 9 month post and group his 10 & 11 months together later on. The 9th month was a rough one. I don’t even want to tell you what day of his 9th month I took his picture. He just wasn’t happy most of the month with teething and lack of sleep. I would say his biggest change is eating. He likes it now! He also likes waving, playing peek-a-boo, following his brother and sister around, pulling library books out of the basket actually pulling everything out of baskets, squealing and babbling, riding on my back and playing in the nursery.

I got a little sentimental and dressed him in the same outfit Jack wore for his 9 month pictures. Sweet baby boys.

DSC02439A little Jack flashback!

Here is his 9 month post.

Ha, I just read this blog post again and Jack’s 9th month sounds very similar to Lucas. I guess we all need some perspective sometimes. Also, it doesn’t seem to matter whether I have 1 or 3 kids, I have issues finding time to write blog posts. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh my, how could I forget? On the day he turned 9 months, Lucas slept through the night! It has been wonderful-glorious-spectacular! I feel human again. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We love you baby Lucas! Happy 9 months!

Months 7 & 8

Sweet Lucas is getting so big! He is definitely sitting like a pro now and moves from sitting to crawling and back to sitting. He mostly army crawls but is starting to throw in some knee crawling here and there. He pulls up on things which has resulted in a few tumbles. He is brave, this one. He is adventurous too. He makes his way all around the first floor now and will come up and tickle my legs and feet when I am at the kitchen sink. He has found his voice with squeals and growls. He says mama. He is attempting to wave. Oh my, SO big. We love you little Lukey!

IMG_53247 Months

IMG_5336He’s a happy guy!

IMG_5263He is also pretty tolerant. ๐Ÿ˜‰

IMG_5343He really loves his brother and sister. He always lights up when he sees each of them in the morning.

IMG_5285He loves watching the kids play.

Can you just see his wheels turning?!

IMG_5374Going outside is fun but swinging is even better!

IMG_55148 Months

IMG_5560I’m very happy he isn’t disturbed by grass.

IMG_5524Such a big boy!

We love you Lucas!

Months 5 and 6

The little guy is 6 months old! It seems hard to believe he is half a year old already. It almost appears that he thinks he is older than he really is. He has 4 teeth! FOUR!!! He also has been crawling backwards. One day I laid him on his sheepskin and he rolled over. He was laying there on his stomachย with his arms fully extended, just watching us. Next time I looked he was on the other side of the room! We all had a good laugh about that, including him. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lucas loves watching his siblings. Jack can make him belly laugh and Ella always brings a smile to his face. They actually help out a lot with him. I love my 3 silly bears!

IMG_50645 months

I should have taken a picture of my crew. They were all around me with their play cameras trying to get him to smile. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_5094Here is the little monkey after his great escape.

IMG_5152This was before his top teeth popped through.

IMG_51836 months

Legs and arms just a-going!

IMG_5188He was very focused on the sign and was determined to get it.

IMG_5189Almost got itโ€ฆ

IMG_5193I tried to trick him and put it on the other sideโ€ฆhe just laughed.

IMG_5192I finally just gave up.

IMG_5196He thought it was a great game!

P.S. He is representing his Aunt Megan with his Coast Guard shirt she got him. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_5158He shared his smiles even though teething is no fun.

IMG_5168Ella wanted to read next to him.

Happy 6 months, Lucas! Hopefully the next post wonโ€™t include you walkingโ€ฆ

Months 3 and 4

I got thinking it is time to share Lucas’ monthly post and realized he just turned 5 months! Where does the time go? He is getting so big! Thankfully, right around 4 months he started to be happier when he was awake. Now he will sit in his bouncy seat or lay on the lambskin and watch all the busyness around him. He is pretty busy too. He can roll over and move around on his back and stomach. He jabbers, squeals and laughs and he really is quite delightful! He actually loves to stand up supported and will do it for quite awhile. He started to act like he was teething and sure enough a tooth popped through a few days after turning 5 months! Ugh, teething. By the time, all of my babies get their teeth (Ella still needs to get her 2 year molars) it will be time for Jack to lose his baby teeth. I can’t get a break from the teeth!

3 Months

We love him so!

Sweet drooling boy ๐Ÿ™‚

He has started to hang out in the Bumbo seat too.

Happy boy!

He enjoyed Ella reading to him.

We love you little Lucas! Happy 3 & 4 months!

Months One and Two

Lucas turned 2 months this week! He started to coo and smile more this month. He still prefers to nurse, visit with us for a while and then go back to sleep. He has been a pretty good sleeper. However, he has been shaking it up lately and waking up more at night. He has also slept a 7 hour stretch so, I guess I shouldn’t complain. He isn’t a big fan of the van stopping or of being awake for very long. This boy has a good set of lungs. But his huge gummy smiles and sweet snuggles are worth it!

A brief smile ๐Ÿ™‚

This was on Jack’s birthday.

Aw, he was smiling and talking to his dad.

My sister, the Baby Whisperer

He was laughing at the kids!

He was saying “goo”!

Happy 2 months Little Guy!

Three Kids 3 and Under

That is my excuse for not being a faithful blogger. ๐Ÿ™‚ You read that right. If you didn’t already know, we had baby #3 on September 19th and yes, it took me a month to announce his arrival (see the title one more time)!ย  Lucas Dale was 8lbs. 10 oz. and 19 3/4 in. He came on his due date which was as wonderful as my labor being cut in half from last time with Ella, who was 12 days late, ahem. We had a water birth and we were back home within 5 hours of having him! It really was a good day.

The kids seem to be adjusting well. Seth has been able to take off lots of time from work and he has been a super-dad. Amazing, really. Lucas is doing his best getting used to this world but I never have really easy newborns. He does however, sleep much longer stretches than the other 2 kids did which is such a blessing.ย  Jack and Ella really love him! Jack has been a huge help and I think Ella is still getting used to the fact that she is not the baby anymore. Thankfully, she did decide to start walking really well the month before he was born. My mom came for a wonderful week! She pretty much took over all the meals, entertained and took care of the kids, cleaned and was a great help. My sister had her daughter, Libertee (doubleย e’sย just like her mom, Karilee and big sister, Audree) just 10 days before Lucas! So, my mom has been busy taking care of her daughters and grand-babies! We really miss her.

I was so thankful for no complications and a healthy son.

A happy Dad to be home with his 3rd child.

Lucas just a few hours old.

So peaceful ๐Ÿ™‚

The 3 kiddos!

This picture makes me smile!

Getting these little ones to cooperate for the camera takes a lot of work. ๐Ÿ™‚

We Are Still Here

Somehow a whole month got a way from me. Moving is hard. Being pregnant and having little kids that are adjusting to all the new changes is even harder. Thankfully, things are settling down a bit and we are falling into a new normal. I did take some pictures in my absence but truthfully not many. We have been doing repairs, picking strawberries, celebrating patriotic holidays, exploring our new surroundings and visiting with family. My mom came for over 2 weeks and even though I didn’t take the evidence of her being here is all around us. She hemmed curtains for the kid’s rooms and kitchen, made a cushion cover for the $3 highchair I found at a garage sale, made some really cute tissue paper flowers for Ella’s room and just kept me sane with all of her help. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Kari and Audree came to pick her up so we had a few days to visit and play with them as well.

The kids are growing and changing. Jack has started to call this house “home” instead of “the new house” so it seems to be sinking in. Ella is becoming more independent too. She said 3 new words just today and will climb on and in anything. She would still rather crawl than walk but has taken some steps and is becoming more confident. I’m pretty sure she will decide running is the way to go so I can wait… at least a little longer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Jack enjoys driving his trucks on the front porch.

Ella is banned from the front porch since all she wants to do is go up and down the cement steps out front.

Jack drew his first person on Mother’s Day which I thought was a great gift. We called him “the muscle man”. ๐Ÿ™‚

My talented husband built amazing shelves for the basement and took the time to let Jack help.

Strawberry picking this year was a bit disappointing but we still got some yummy dessert and baked oatmeal from our efforts.

Jack enjoyed the tractor ride more though.ย  He actually was a great help getting all the berries washed once we were home.

My patriotic family!

We have been exploring our pasture out back and enjoying the blackberries in granola and fruit salad.ย  The snakes and mosquitoes…not so much.

We visited a new park and I’m sure we will be back. Especially since they have train rides on Saturdays and Sundays!

Ella’s hair is getting long and curly! I think she was trying to tell me something the day she took a fork out of the dishwasher and started combing her hair with it.

We have since bought little Ariel some hair pretties!

1 box+ dirty laundry= an excavator digging dirt and dumping it into a dump truck in Jack’s world!

Ella decided pushing her stroller around the house was a much better use of time. ๐Ÿ™‚

So, that pretty much brings you up to date. Hopefully, I will be back before another month passes!
