Ella’s 1st Birthday

Wow, the end of December flew by at lightning speed! I had every intention of posting Ella’s birthday pictures before Christmas but it just didn’t happen. I plan to get better. I don’t want her birthday to get lost in the Christmas shuffle every year.

Seth had the day off so we just relaxed together as a family. Ella stuck to her normal routine with a cake and a few presents thrown into the mix. I didn’t get pictures of all of her presents but she got some good ones! Her Aunt Megan made her a blanket complete with her name knit in the binding (amazing!) and a matching one for her doll! My parents got her a Radio Flyer scoot about bike which Jack is keeping company until Ella is ready for it. 😉 Seth’s parents got her blocks and made her adorable shoes, mittens and a hat. She also got some cute outfits from Kari’s family and Jeremy and his fiance, Lindsey. What a spoiled girl! Too bad all she cared about was the tissue and wrapping!

I intentionally kept her gift simple and handmade. We made Ella a wooden doll stroller and doll. Seth did an awesome job building the stroller and I sanded it (we make a good team). My Mom was a wonderful help as well. She didn’t know what she was in for when she agreed to help me! She sewed the fabric part of the stroller but she also helped me make a pattern and sew a doll for Ella during her visit in the summer. The doll took a LOT more work than I expected but we think she turned out pretty cute!
